Saarland planned a hike.
September 14, 2018
The Saarland has a closely intertwined history with the neighboring France - so it is obvious that a panel tour also leads across to Lorraine. From the contemplative Berus this round leads you over open hills to the French neighbor Berviller-en-Moselle.The starting point of the Beruser Tafeltour is the striking Europadenkmal on the edge of the village. Before you start, it is worthwhile to visit the viewing platform, because the view over the wide hills is fantastic. Then it goes on through the nature reserve Beruser Kalksteinbruch and then along the German-French border. At the edge of Merten you finally enter French soil.First you walk here through sparse forest until you open a wide meadow and pasture landscape in front of you. Only a little later you can see the log cabin Chalet du Chemin, where you can take a little rest. After you have crossed the village Berviller -en-Moselle, it goes back to the Saarland. A few meters beyond the border you will find the sanctuary of St. Orana with its small chapel. From here it is only a short distance to the table-top restaurant Margarethenhof. After a well deserved rest, the table tour takes you back to the starting point in Berus.
