At 917 meters, the Pantokrator is by far the highest mountain in Corfu. Most tourists drive only for a photo to the summit, but in addition to the beautiful views, there are also beautiful hiking trails around the mountain. Our tour takes you in a big round to the summit and over the plateau below the Pantokrator. In summer you should start the tour as early as possible, because there are hardly any shadows on the high plateau. For the tour you need sturdy shoes and especially enough water. The starting point of your hike is a small gravel parking lot next to the access road to the Pantokrator. From here you first follow the serpentine road to the summit. In the morning only a few cars and scooters are on the way and so you can easily walk along here.Already during the ascent you have a great view of the deep valleys in the north of the Pantokrator. At the top, not only a beautiful panoramic view over Corfu awaits you, but also a fairly cultivated mountain ridge. Besides the old monastery, there is a small tavern and countless transmission towers. In their absurdity, they are a great photo opportunity.Next, it's a bit back on the serpentine road. After the first right turn, a very narrow and rocky path branches off to the high plateau. Watch for a red arrow painted on the asphalt. Incidentally, this short rocky path is the only place on the tour that can be a bit slippery. After a few meters, the narrow path leads into a wide, barely used dirt road. You follow the path with a magnificent view over the high plateau, which is littered everywhere with angular limestone cliffs. With solid shoes the way is easy to walk and you can enjoy in peace the view of the Ionian Sea and the Pantokrator. The path leads you gently downhill and soon the landscape changes. The bushes along the way are getting greener and bigger and in front of you opens a great view of the green slopes of the Corfiot mountains. After a right turn, a narrow hiking trail branches off to the north. You follow the path into a shaggy forest of low trees and bushes.Again and again the summit of the Pantokrator appears above the trees and after a last section over the limestone cliffs you reach the starting point of your hike.
