The coastal road taken by the velomaritime between Courseulles-sur-mer and Honfleur is far too urbanized and is not pleasant to cycle. It is for this reason that I suggest that you follow smaller roads away from the coast to avoid this inconvenience. The first stage, however, takes you to the seaside in Arromanches so that you can see the few remains of the landing. I am talking about the artificial port built by the allies in the bay of this small Norman village. The museum located on the heights of the village bears witness to the rich historical past. A 360-degree video immerses you in the dark years of WWII. An experience to live that I highly recommend to you as the cinematographic work is of quality. The rest of the route bypasses the coast which is a little too concrete and favors the authenticity of small Normandy valleys. You will arrive in the Pays d'Auge after having crossed the Pont de Bénouville (or Pegasus bridge). The city of Honfleur, your destination tonight, is a real gem in its natural setting. It is, as they say, "preserved in its own way" and attracts many tourists and history buffs. From the Sainte-Catherine church to the Vieux Bassin via its narrow medieval streets, everything will seduce you here. Book your stay in advance - even out of season - as the city is very busy. The birthplace of Erik Satie, famous French composer is located in Honfleur and is worth a visit.
