A hike to my liking: paths, forest trails, with the stream in the valley. One way tour. We parked in a free parking lot a few meters east of the train station in Herrlingen. Every hour (Saturday / Sunday every 2 hours) there is a bus in the direction of Bermaringen from the "Post" stop. It's a few minutes north of here. We drove to the "Hohenstein" stop. There a steep path leads down to the quelltopf (directly behind the Gasthof Lamm). From here it's almost flat along the Lauter back to Herrlingen.Despite lunchtime, the path was almost entirely in the cooling shade of the trees for the first 5 km.Variations:
Those who prefer not to go steeply downhill can simply reverse the path, so start from Herrlingen and then take the bus in Hohenstein.
If you like it longer, you can go to Bermaringen, for example. The valley stretches much further to the north-east, even if there are no Lauter there yet.
You can see my opinion above: just as I like it.

So from the lake you drive a little over 1.5 hours. Maybe you can stay one night and enjoy even more highlights in the area, e.g. Schelklingen, Blaubeuren, Ulm, or one of the fantastic hiking suggestions in Komoot, e.g. mine from the Große Lauter.

Yes, the little Lautertal has been one of my most beautiful tours so far. If it will be changed slightly again in any case, hiking is already planned. Is really a beautiful area is always worth it.
