The starting point of this beautiful hike is the Viking Museum Haithabu near Schleswig. A visit to the exhibition house is highly recommended for your introduction to the past with the Vikings. After booking your time slot, you can let yourself be impressed by the archaeological finds, the replicas and the excellent presentation before you head out into the outdoor area with the seven true-to-original replicas. Haithabu was protected by a semicircular wall, which you can still see very well today. The people lived in wooden houses with plastered plastered walls and went about their work on narrow plank paths. They had built a jetty in Haddebyer Noor for their ships. A wide range of events regularly brings the old craft and the world of the Vikings to life for you.You leave the ring wall in a southerly direction, pass one of the reconstructed rune stones and reach the small wooden Noor bridge. It looks a little unreal and fragile when it appears like a mirage on the flat land and is then stable enough to allow you to transition to the other bank. On the east bank of the Haddebyer Noor you now hike to the Ostseefjord Schlei. With a little imagination you can imagine how the Viking ships drove into the Schlei, then through the 40 kilometer long fjord and finally to the Baltic Sea.After you have crossed the dam, you turn back towards the museum at Odin's beer garden and restaurant and you will soon have reached your starting point.
