We start in Tiefenort on the Werra and take a look at the listed St. Peters Church. The loopholes in the tower indicate a former fortified church. At the beautiful building of the city administration we meet the Werra-Burgen-Steig. The long-distance hiking trail leads from the source of the Werra in Fehrenbach to the mouth of the Werra in Hann. Münden (wbs.werra-burgen-steig.de).Then it's up to Krayenburg. The castle was first mentioned in 1155 as the "castrum" of the Hersfeld monastery and was later expanded into a fortress. There are two paths to choose from for the descent from the conical Krayenberg to Kieselbach. We choose the little-used one and sometimes would have needed a machete. Those who prefer a little less "nature feeling" should choose the second alternative (donkey path). After a little refreshment in Kieselbach in the Feldschänke restaurant, the way back to Tiefenort leads over beautiful field and forest paths.

A nice circular hike with nice climbs and descents. Okay, I have clearly chosen the "worst" descent from the Krayenburg - for my taste - our legs and arms were a bit sore after the "trail": nettles, blackberries, creepers, not to mention the numerous mosquito bites. 🙈 Still nice and a bit of adventure is also nice. Flora and fauna are once again fantastic and again and again we encounter plants and butterflies that are unknown to us.In Kieselbach we pass the forester's beautifully landscaped garden. The kitchen garden and flower borders are nicely arranged here and we go into raptures ... Wherever you look, you always discover new, beautiful seats and corners. 👍🌳🦋On a beautiful path with wide views, we reach the ascent to the Lichtberg and hike down through the forest to Tiefenort.
