Purbach - Kauernburg - Schloss Plassenburg - Kulmbach
Joachim and Sandra 🥾🥾🎒 went for a hike.

Our tour starts at the Kulmbach airfield, takes us over a forest path down to Oberpurbach, on over farm roads to Kauernburg and into the valley of the White Main. The White Main is one of the two source rivers of the Main. In Steinenhausen on the western outskirts of Kulmbach it flows together with the Red Main to form the Main.We cross the White Main and come back to a wooded area. Forest paths lead up to the Plassenburg, an imposing hilltop castle in the Renaissance style. Now we hike down to Kulmbach, stroll through the nice old town and taste the beers brewed here.Okay, then it went uphill again to the Kulmbach airfield ... 🙈
In the run-up to our "waypoints" on our journey, we of course always look at where we can stand with our motorhome. This time we were sure that the parking spaces in the city are quite noisy and that's not our thing at all. So we looked in the "closer" area and found a nice place right at the Kulmbach airfield. Wonderfully quiet and we stood alone ... As usual for a glider airfield, it is of course on the mountain and Kulmbach only a good 2 km away - in the valley ... 😂 Well, we like to run.We are right on the Frankenwaldsteig and hike down the mountain through pretty little villages. The flower meadows and wide views inspire us. At a distance we can already see the Plassenburg, our first destination. The White Main has a lot of water - it has rained a lot here too recently. We like the Plassenburg very much. It's amazing what high walls surround the castle. A stage is set up inside. A band plays here in the evening ... That is certainly a very special atmosphere, surrounded by the thick walls. It's nice that small events are taking place again, it is a great pleasure for us that a little bit of normal culturally is returning. On a steep path we go down to the historic upper town full of first impressions. Beautiful houses, narrow streets, beautiful fountains and city towers - just great! We stop at the Kommunbräu brewery and try the beers there 🍺. Franconia is known for its density of breweries. The brewery is well attended, and the snack and beer are highly recommended. On our way back to the starting point, we pass the Mönchshof brewery. The museum has already closed, but the brewery inn is still open. We sit down in the pretty inner courtyard and drink another glass of barley juice, after all, we still have a decent climb ahead of us, so you have to be well strengthened ... 😉The way to the airfield has an incline of 17%. We are happy when we get to the top and enjoy the sunset from the airfield. A wonderful calm surrounds us up here. We look forward to a wonderfully quiet night in the Franconian Forest. 🚐😴

You were lucky that you found a quiet place to sleep 😊 Nice tour and great photos again. 👍🏻 Greetings and have a wonderful day!
Thank you very much, Petra. Warm greetings to Wendeburg! 😃
How lucky were you with the weather. Our beloved Ahr valley is completely under water, the news from the other badly affected areas read terribly. Nice to know you are on the mountain, I hope you will be spared a bit! Take care and hopefully have nice tours again soon!
Thank you dear ones. We have read and seen the catastrophic news and pictures from Rhineland-Palatinate and North Rhine-Westphalia. The weather extremes do indeed seem to be increasing in number.Kind regards and good wishes from us to Münster! 🙋♂️🙋♀️
We look forward to your beautiful pictures again. When you're back home, you can write a digital hiking book
You've earned the barley juice. Nice photos of a nice tour.
@ Balou2018: the digital hiking book is also a good idea ... Or a hiking and RV tours blog 😆🤗
@ Peter and Sigrid: Thank you very much - the barley juice from the Kommunbräu cooperative brewery was particularly delicious. 🍺
