On this mountain tour you climb one of the highest peaks in the Lechtal Alps. The way there leads you through an exciting tunnel section and the wild Sulzbachtal. That sounds fun? Then lace up your hiking boots and off you go!

In order for this tour to be a success, you should not only have waterproof clothing and sturdy shoes, but also have previous alpine experience. A head for heights, surefootedness and climbing skills are required on the last section to the summit. Since this tour is only planned as a way there, you can do it in two days with an overnight stay at the Frederick Simms Hut.

On the outskirts of Stockach you start your mountain adventure, which from now on leads you steadily uphill and towards the summit. After two kilometers you will immediately reach an exciting section, because you are hiking through several tunnels carved into the rock. Cooling off is very pleasant, especially on hot days. Again and again you can catch a glimpse of the Sulzlbachklamm from here.

With a moderate gradient and a well-developed forest path you then follow the Sulzlbachtal. You will reach the cultivated Sulzlalm, where you can strengthen yourself before continuing. The forest road ends here and the path becomes a little more impassable. After six and a half kilometers, it is over with comfortable, because now there is another 400 meters of altitude to overcome over one and a half kilometers. The path winds up via a serpentine path to the Frederick Simms Hut, where you really deserve a break.

From the hut it is another 800 meters to the summit. You climb over scree fields to the Fallenbacher Joch at 2,727 meters and from there to the summit. The key point, an exposed rock slab, is secured with a steel cable. Overall, the ascent is rated UIAA II. The view from the summit is rewarding for all efforts. The same route then takes you back to the starting point in Stockach.
