... there he was. The last day of our bike ride started like on all other days with bright sunshine and blue sky. The night had been pretty cold. It was the first time I dont wear a t-shirt to sleep at night. Well, yes, we are also a bit northern 😀We started as usual after a hearty breakfast with a dry tent. I mention that only because we had to wet the tent almost every day last year. What a summer 🌞

We lead first to Kœge and stopped briefly in the marketplace.
Køge is one of the best preserved medieval towns in Denmark. It was built on a royal order near the coast and provided with a well-developed road network. Every form of trade took place in the big market square in the city center. Likewise large knight tournaments were held here and public punishment was carried out on the large place of execution. In 1288 Køge received the city rights and was then subsequently provided with a rampart, a moat and mighty city gates.

From Køge we went - which we did not suspect - in the hills. In fact, W8r really had to earn our lunch. It went up and down through a rolling landscape shaped by the ice age. Many horse farms have settled here. That looked really chic and also wealthy. It was getting hotter and we were looking for a shady rest area for our lunch break, when we returned to the sea. This revealed itself in a small marina on Hundige beach. Here we saddled and started to dine. Today there was baguette with sausage and cheese, a couple of boiled eggs from the breakfast and at the end even mixed yoghurt with banana ... and then came Peter.

We slowly slipped into our nap when someone asked us: Where do you come from? I dutifully answer: Germany. Oh, you can also speak German, answer an elderly gentleman in the best Hamburg dialect. He introduced himself as Peter, and that's when he started a real pattering. After 1.5 hours I knew all his family history and that he had fled to Denmark in the beginning of the 60-years before the compulsory military service and then got stuck here. Then his English friend Sean came by and we had an international conference in German, English and Danish. Finally, I had to look at his small yacht and got a tour of the harbor. Meanwhile, Lara has kept her afternoon nap.

These are the moments that make a bike tour something forgetful again and again. A bike ride is one of the few ways to get into contact with the country and people so quickly. I love it ....After we said goodbye to Peter, we lead directly to Copenhagen. It was always surprising, even which closed motor traffic from the green roads we approached the city center. The number of cyclists increased with each kilometer. The infrastructure changed radically. There were real bike highways to light. You immediately noticed that the bike has a special significance here.

We pass directly through the city center by the town hall and Tivoli. Here it was getting more and more hectic. To ride a bike in Copenhagen, you have to take one to heart ... do not hesitate, drive to the right and always give your hand signals. Otherwise, it may be that you get a curse and verbal abuse of a fast overtaking cyclist. Our hostel, which was to serve us as accommodation for the next 2 nights, was reached after 64 km. A grand bike ride through a beautiful landscape came to an end. When we were at the door, we all asked each other 3: Was that it now? We just left yesterday. If something was so entertaining, it must have been beautiful. The Danish South Sea crossing was over ... what remains are 7 great days with unsurpassable weather and beautiful country and people !!!
