The night was clear and cold for the previous conditions. It was the first time I woke up at night and I was cold. My summer sleeping bag had to be preserved. We did not have any tropical temperatures anymore ... they had actually dropped 19 degrees here in the hills of Moen. But it was still bearable 😎We started before I had paid the most expensive campground of my life at the time. A total of 375 kroner was due, which is about 50 euros. I really did not want to buy the campsite .... But we had pool and playgrounds and even a green lawn ... by the way the only one on our whole bike ride. But it just was not worth it 😕

Incidentally, where we are already on the subject ... Denmark had been weeks without rain and completely dry. The grain harvest has already been retracted, with the bit of what was threshed there was not really harvest. Cooking with mobile cookers or grilling was forbidden on most campsites out of fear. However, it was allowed near the kitchen or on stone slabs. However, it took a lot of organization to get all the cooking utensils there. But what you do not do for a good home-cooked meal.

So we started into a day that confronted me with a situation that I have not had in years yet ... but more of that later. The tour started with a 6km descent ... what more could you ask for. After that it was mainly on main roads long to walkways. Nothing dolles. Stege awaits us with a flea market and city festival. That was really cute raised ... the only problem ... we had to bag and through the crowds through. Not an easy task.

After Stege came soon the crossing over the Queen Elizabeth Bridge to our last of the 8 islands and here it happened shortly before our lunch break. We had chosen a church with a bench in the shade and a great view of the sea with the bridge. Lena and I had already turned off the wheels when Lara called out that she could not get any further. I went back the way and saw the dilemma. Her chain tensioner was stuck in the spokes. I just wanted to ask her how she did that when I saw her necklace. The chain was almost torn on one limb and thus bent. Great .... what now?

I did not have a replacement chain with me. A bicycle dealer not nearby. Well, I could have called my bike protection insurance a la ADAC. They would have organized a bicycle workshop. But how long would that have taken or where would we possibly be accommodated. Reschedule and tour reorganize ... we did not want that either. So get out and fix tools. Luckily I had a chain tool with my universal tool. I had never used it before. So far I had always been able to attach my chains with a missing link (lock). So premiere for me to mend a Kete with riveting tool itself ..... if that goes well.

Quick to tell ... apart I had the chain quickly, just put together did not really work great. I was already cursing loudly and had included Lena in the repair when the help came in the form of a cyclist. He was with his mother on bike ride to acquaintances and aspiring bicycle mechanic. Thank god or just we were at a church ... maybe someone answered my prayers 😀

The repair went fast ... but there were so many broken limbs that the chain was too short and therefore the smallest gears were no longer needed. So we had to look for a new chain in the next bigger city. We thanked the mother and the son and learned an important detail for all Denmark cyclists. If you need fresh water or a toilet, you only have to go to a church. In every Danish church water and sanitary facilities are available to every hiker. We can say that's true. The luxury we used every day in the heat several times until the end of our tour. There are churches in every small village and the sanitary facilities are always very clean.

Fortunately, we had tailwind and Lara was able to manage the hills quite well despite reduced gears. She became even more zealous and sprinted ahead. Finally, Lena and I have not seen her at all. Until we heard a scream at some point and after the next corner saw the bike on the street. No trace of Lara ... she was in the ditch. Ok, breathe, pull the child out of the ditch and control. I could not believe my eyes. Lara had blood on her arms and legs and roared like a spit 😮

Lena and I got a slight panic, but after we had looked at the first wounds and wiped, we realized that it was red berry juice, because she had slipped on the bike. They were red mirabelles. For the second time that day, I sent a prayer to heaven. The real abrasions were manageable and quickly supplied. But now fast and at some point we arrived at our campsite with a new chain bought in Praesto. This turned out to be very comfortable ... with its own climbing park and great sanitary facilities. But the price had ruined my evening thoroughly. 500 crowns !!!!! That's the equivalent of 67 euros. For this get a pension in this country !!!

But after the day I was tired of confrontation. I mounted the new chain (of course with Missing Link) and in the evening we went to the climbing park. With the money we made 3 climbing rounds. What must be must be ......
