Sometimes you are amazed by the beautiful places that you can discover on your own by bike. This is one such ride, a little mini-vacation on the road bike. From the edge of South Limburg, past rolling fields with views, reservoirs and pristine coniferous forests, to the border of the Ardennes and back again. From the departure point in Slenaken you quickly cross the Belgian border into the characteristic landscape of the Voer region. Thanks to the quiet roads, the views and the above-ground electricity grid, you immediately have a holiday feeling. You will not let go of that feeling in this ride. Because after every climb, the views and the picturesque villages become more beautiful. Is there also climbing? Yes, because with about 1,200 vertical meters this ride is a nice challenge for the grimpeurs, or climbers. The most difficult climb starts from Limbourg. The Côte de la Ville Haute rises in front of you like a wall from the center. For nearly a kilometer, the gradients remain in double digits. This is a tough climb! After about 35 kilometers of cycling you reach the first reservoir, the impressive Barrage de la Gileppe. Be sure to stop here for coffee and a photo opportunity. After you follow the lake for a while, you climb back to the higher area via the beautiful Côte des Sangliers. And then on to the Vesderstuwdam in Eupen. The highest point of this ride is reached in Eupen, 400 meters above NAP. From here the route whirls back towards South Limburg. Slowly you see the wooded Ardennes area change to the open hilly landscape on the Voer region. If you want to enjoy a little longer on Belgian territory, a stop at bistro Le Soigneur is recommended. Just to top up the reserves because there will be one more climb in South Limburg. You have to conquer the Eperheide before the legs can go up.Tips:
    - Put a bar less air pressure in your tires than normal for this ride. The Belgian roads in the Voer region and Ardennes are of lesser quality than you are used to in the Netherlands. This is a lot more comfortable to drive.
    - At the start location in Slenaken you can park for free in the large parking lot “Bij de brug” located at the bottom of the Loorberg.
