While downtown Hagen is more of a gray mouse, the trails in the surrounding area present themselves as a colorful mix for a five-star deluxe menu for bikers. And for dessert there is the supposedly smallest hotel in Germany, in the middle of the idyllic old town of Herdecke, just a stone's throw away from the Ruhr. The name says it all: Great Trails - Mini Hotel! You start at the main station of Hagen. Well accessible and not far from the trails. Nevertheless, the tour leads you, of course, first on roads out of the city. Fortunately, Hagen is not that big, so you'll soon feel the first gravel under the tires. The first part of this tour is a small but nice warmup round, an action-packed foretaste of what Hagen and the surrounding area have to offer. At the Hagener Freilichtmuseum you drive past and turn right immediately after - a steep road brings you to the start of the first single trail in the Hagener Stadtwald, where you can let off steam to your heart's content. Then the route leads to the Ruhr and thus to your hostel, the Mini Hotel in Herdecke. There you can make yourself fresh and let the evening end comfortably. Herdecke has a small but cozy old town with many restaurants. Alternatively, we can recommend you the Ruhrauen. There you can take a little walk or sit comfortably in the café.The next day is again trail action on the program. From the trail trail parallel to Hengsteysee you have always great views of the lake and the surrounding countryside. The trails below the Syburg are a nice challenge and just before Westhofen it may well be that you roll down a few downhillers who train here.Back in Hagen a long climb waits for you, which leads you to the upper edge of the quarry Ambrock. There you should definitely take a little break and take a look in the large opencast mine, which is indeed quite impressive. What follows is a colorful mix of the finest bike trails. It goes up, it goes down. Sometimes steep, sometimes rather flat. Sometimes easy, sometimes demanding. That's really fun. And as a reward there is a long descent down to the valley of the Hasper brook, from where you can roll back to the train station.
