Dagje naar Texel – Uitdagende dagwandelingen met deuter
deuter planned a hike.

Texel far away? No, you really don't have to go on holiday for a week to walk on this beautiful Wadden island. From Den Helder you can sail to Texel in just 20 minutes and the great thing is: your walk starts directly from the harbor. At low tide you can walk a bit around the Mokbaai onto the mudflats. But beware: you still have about 22 kilometers to go, so if you want to go home today, don't delay too long. You walk along the water towards the viewing platform. With the sea in front of you and the Texel countryside behind you, this is a great moment to take in the surroundings. You walk towards the west coast and soon walk on the wide beach. If you want, you can stop at one of the cozy beach pavilions for a drink. A little further on you bend back into the dunes along a small fen. Now you walk through the nature reserve at Den Horn through the dunes and the heath. Along the way you might meet the Scottish highlanders or wild horses. You continue your way through the dunes via winding paths, until you eventually arrive in De Koog. This village is particularly popular with holidaymakers and therefore has many cozy terraces and cafes. And yes, it is quite possible to spend a day on Texel, but it is much more fun to stay here for a night, isn't it? There are plenty of options in De Koog. Otherwise, take the bus from here back to the ferry that will bring you back ashore.
