It was warm. A bit of cooling came from the wind, unfortunately from the front and tighter than expected. The route was very badly planned by me, the sections of the terrain were too bumpy to drive quickly with full panniers (water!). Behind Helbra, the level crossing was an insurmountable construction site, which I had to bypass very widely. But I've already learned something again about how to drive better. Because the area driven through is very beautiful!

Respect. Ride a bike in the heat.

As an alternative to bypassing the level crossing via Benndorf, you could have driven via Ziegelrode, there a beautiful gravel road leads over a railway bridge onto a crumbling agricultural road (between Ahlsdorf and Ziegelrode - now more of a dirt road) that leads directly to Annarode. From there (the street) you could also turn into the Dippelsbachtal and across the Kaisereiche and Desert Church to the federal road (then you won't even come through Annarode). Advantage, you are in the forest a lot and only have to briefly follow the cycle path on the main road before you turn to Pölsfeld (there are also nice paths past old mining remains - a lot to discover 😉).

Ah, I've looked at it, looks good, I'll try it. I had already tried a little in that direction, but the incision was getting deeper and deeper and there was no bridge, so I became discouraged and turned around. Of course I didn't have a card with me, which was also a mistake.
    Thanks for the tip!
