The Hessian long-distance cycle route R6 crosses the entire state from north to south for more than 400 kilometers. A good 80 kilometers of it run through the beautiful Taunus. If you want to divide the tour into two or three stages, Usingen, Rod an der Weil or Bad Camberg are ideal stage locations. It starts at Rockenberg in the Wetterau. Via the Usatal you dive into the Taunus. It is a little uphill, but the percentage of inclines is limited. Crossing the chaffinch town of Usingen you finally get to the Hattsteinweiher, where you can treat yourself to a welcome cooling on hot days. You climb higher and higher into the hills and drive through Wilhelmsdorf and Niederlauken. Behind Rod an der Weil you drive past the venerable Eichelbacher Hof. Here you can take a break and take a break. On your further path you pass Dombach and the striking Kreuzkapelle of Bad Camberg soon appears in front of you. From up here, a rapid descent takes you down to the spa town. The Kneipp spa park in Bad Camberg's old town is just another highlight of many. The following section takes you through the Goldener Grund and via Walsdorf to the residential city of Idstein with its landmark, the Witches Tower. The route runs straight through the lovely old town. There are more than enough places to stop for a break here.Behind Niederseelbach, a long climb up to the Taunus main ridge is waiting for you. Your goal is the Platte, one of the most important crossings over the ridge and a popular excursion destination not least because of the hunting lodge and the connected beer garden. From here you have the choice whether you go to Wiesbaden or Taunusstein, for example. Or you just follow the R6 past Wiesbaden and to the other side of the Main.
