Tour zu den Kuhfluchtwasserfällen – Wasserwelten rund um die Zugspitze
Zugspitz Region planned a hike.
May 28, 2021
On this hike you will discover the Kuhflucht waterfalls near Farchant, which are among the highest waterfalls in Germany. There are various theories about the origin of the name. Some assume that the name "Kuhflucht" is derived from "Kuhflack". In summer the cows “flickered” comfortably in the shade. This is where the name came from. The forest adventure trail, which winds its way through mixed forest with over forty species of trees for a leisurely three kilometers, is particularly fun for children. On the Königsweg you finally reach the Kuhflucht waterfalls in a leisurely climb. This path is suitable for children from three years of age, but the stroller should be parked below. The water falls 270 meters deep into the valley via three waterfall levels, making it one of the highest waterfalls in Germany. The waterfall roars particularly impressively while the meltwater flows down from the mountains.Tip: If you haven't had enough of the hike to the Kuhflucht waterfalls, you can continue on the Philosophenweg towards Garmisch-Partenkirchen. The nice path takes you to the Schützenhaus restaurant below the Wank valley station in just under an hour. There you can enjoy many Bavarian delicacies and enjoy the view of the Zugspitze massif. You can take the bus back to Farchant.
