The first stage on the main natural biking route takes you through the foothills of the Alps from Wangen to Weitnau. Although the mountains are not that high here, there are still a few vertical meters in the hilly terrain. With a little distance from the high Allgäu mountains, you often have a fantastic view of the Alps from the paths. You leave Wangen to the northeast. Halfway to Ratzenried you will pass the Zurwies dairy, where you can stock up on a lot of cheese for a snack - and protein is important if you do a lot of sport. Ratzenried is a very picturesque place, but since you are only nine kilometers behind you, it is only suitable for a short break. It continues over scattered courtyards to Siggen, where you can enjoy a great view of the Alps high above the castle pond. The path meanders south and through the beautiful Osterwald. On the banks of the Upper Argen you can gather new strength here in a beer garden for the second half of the route, which is really uphill.Parallel to the course of the river, the route to Riedholz rises slightly. Then the first long ascent to the Riedholzer Kugel begins. At the beautiful viewpoint on the summit, you can look forward to the next section while taking a breather. Up here, a simple single trail runs along the ridge almost to the Iberger Kugel, the eastern summit of the ridge. Over a forest path you roll down to Klausenmühle into the narrow valley of the Untere Argen.A short piece of bike path through the valley is followed by the next ascent to the next ridge. The last descent of the day takes you down to Weitnau, where this stage ends. On the opposite side of the valley, you can already see the first ascent of the second stage, which leads you to the Hauchenberg.
