The starting point for this tour is Rennertshofen with its beautiful, historic town center. You follow the path to the Urdonautal and the Altmühltal nature park. It is lined with steep cliffs, small villages and fields that fill the valley. It goes along meadows and pastures and here and there small castle ruins balance on narrow rock spurs protruding into the valley. In Dollnstein you reach the enchanting valley of the Altmühl. If you like, you can take a little time here for the Altmühlzentrum in Dollnstein Castle. Not only the old, venerable walls are worth a visit. The exhibition on river and landscape history is also extremely interesting. Also at the Altmühl, just a few kilometers further, you will reach the baroque university town of Eichstätt. Already from a distance it announces itself with a nice view of the Willibaldsburg.Your next stopover is the old Roman fort in Pfünz. It was built on a 40 meter high Jura spur and from here you have another beautiful view of the Altmühl before you turn off towards Hofstetten. You finally reach Ingolstadt via the small communities of Böhmfeld and Gaimersheim. Through the center, past the lovely Liebfrauenmünster, you will reach the Klenzepark, which is invitingly located on the banks of the Danube. If you want to cycle back to Rennertshofen from here, you simply follow the Danube cycle path via Neuburg an der Donau to the starting point.
