This tour starts in the middle of Essen at the main train station and is therefore ideal for you if you are not from Essen and still do not feel like traveling by car. So from the train you switch directly to your bike and if you like, you can pay a visit to the Giant dealer Fahrrad Schlitzer. This would only require a small detour from the Grugaradweg. The first kilometers run through the middle of the city and therefore mostly over asphalt. But that's not bad at all, so you can warm up in peace and quietly "experience" that a lot has happened in terms of bike infrastructure in the Pott. For example, you drive a good bit over the "RS1", the rapid cycle path that later runs through the entire Ruhr area. After a short stretch on the Gruga cycle path, the Gravel finally comes. On quiet paths you drive down to the Ruhr, through Essen Werden and into the gravel paradise in and around the Oefter Tal nature reserve. It's great to drive here and again and again you have a wonderful view of nature - hard to believe that you were just in the middle of the city! After a crisp descent to the Ruhr, a detour to the old town of Essen Kettwig is worthwhile. Then you tackle the way back, which leads you along the Ruhr meadows and under the famous Mintarder Bridge towards Mülheim. Through the beautiful Forstbachtal south of the city you come back to Essen, where you turn back onto the Gruga cycle path and drive back to the main station via the same route as on the way there. Shortly before you reach your destination, you shouldn't miss a stop at Café Radmosphäre.The perfect bike for this tour?

Great gravel adventure: a lot of variety. Some passages go better with the XC Mtb.
Unfortunately, the "Gravel" category is still quite a stepchild from komoot.
Will continue to follow this collection. Thanks to the makers!
