“It's an ice cold day and after a lot of rain the sun is finally smiling at us again today. So get out of the house, otherwise we'll grow stuck to the sofa! A real challenge for the whole family is planned, namely an almost eleven kilometer hike in the Sauerland. It takes us from Attendorn train station to the Atta cave, Schnellenberg Castle and the Skywalk at the Biggetalsperre. "This eleven kilometer hike goes deep down and high up. The exciting round starts at the train station in Attendorn. After a few meters you will reach the first highlight: the Atta cave. Immerse yourself in the magical world of stalactites and stalagmites. Incidentally, the cave belongs to the largest contiguous cave system in Germany - and cheese is also matured down here. How about a taste of the Atta cheese? It continues over the leisurely flowing Bigge to Schnellenberg Castle. In the former fortress there is now a hotel, but you can look at the forecourt and take a break in the beer garden. Then you hike slightly uphill on narrow paths through the dense forest, cross the street and walk to the absolute highlight of the tour, in the truest sense of the word. The Skywalk, a steel platform at a height of 90 meters, towers over the Biggetalsperre. You have a fantastic view of the lake and the surrounding landscape - simply wonderful!Back to Attendorn you hike gently downhill until you meet the Bigge again and soon you are standing at the train station.
