A day in the Eggetal and the Wiehengebirge is like a day of wellness: in absolute tranquility you hike along natural paths through beech and coniferous forests. The Eggetaler Panoramaweg accompanies you - always along the yellow hiking sign "E" - for almost 16 kilometers. In between you will pass witnesses of historical times and can climb the weighing tower. The starting point for this extensive forest hike is one of the most curious train stations in East Westphalia: the Neue Mühle. The tiny train station is a "stop on demand" and can only be found under its full name "Mesch Neue Mühle" on Deutsche Bahn. Therefore, the trains only stop there for show of hands. A short distance from there along the Bünder Straße before you turn off in the direction of Eininghausen on the Panoramaweg. On the right, you always leave Börninghausen and Einighausen next to you while you hike along the slope of the Wiehengebirge. If you feel like taking a break, you can hike from Börninghausen along Eggetaler Straße to Büscherheide to the Hotel-Restaurant Linendhof.During the tour you can actually enjoy the view of the valley almost the whole time. Halfway through you will reach the Wiehenturm - after a short climb, an almost unique view of the wooded low mountain range around you is waiting for you.You continue on the other side of the valley back to your starting point. You always have the Limberg in view on the left. Shortly before the end you can leave the signposted hiking trail and take a detour to another highlight: Limburg Castle. After a short visit to the ruins, you can review the tour again in the forester's house Limburg and try a delicious East Westphalian specialty before returning to the starting point. If you haven't been hungry at the forester's lodge, you can take a break in the Saune Neptun restaurant before driving home.
