deuter planned a hike.

A sun-drenched plateau, dense forest and a valley through which the little river Ölsnitz gently babbles its way: on this hike you can let yourself be really inspired by nature. It starts at the hiking car park at the Rotmailseltal. After 200 meters you will come to a slate heap, which offers a special habitat for rare mosses, lichens and flowering plants. For a refreshment on hot days or a particularly nice resting place, you can make a stop at the Großer Weiher in Geroldsgrün. The former swimming pool has been renatured and is now a nice place to relax. After a slight up and down, you will reach a special vantage point: the Langesbühl observation tower at 699 meters. From here you look over the Franconian Forest, the Fichtel Mountains and the Thuringian Forest.Next you will reach the namesake of the tour - the twelve apostles. They stand in a row, the twelve mysterious diabase stones made of basic stone. Where they come from has not been conclusively clarified. In the end, it doesn't matter whether they have been standing here for 5,000 years and pass through as Upper Franconian Stonehenge, from the Middle Ages or from the modern era. The twelve stones are beautiful to look at and have something mystical about them. A perfect place for a long break where you can enjoy the silence. Over the Schwaabesruh you finally descend again and arrive at the starting point.
