Allmountain: Patscherkofel toptour
Mountain Biking Highlight
Innsbruck planned a Tour.
May 4, 2021
A mountain bike ride to the 2,248 meter high peak of the Patscherkofel is a sporting challenge, but an experience for all touring fans who aim high. Good physical condition is a prerequisite for the ascent to the Olympiaberg from 1964 and 1976, but the effort is rewarded with a phenomenal 360-degree panorama over the entire Inntal. The starting point is the former base station of the Patscherkofelbahn in Igls. From there you drive to the Heiligwasser junction. Then, partly steeply up, follow the signs to Patscher Alm to the so-called Ochsenschlagboden. From the Patscher Alm to the Hochmahdalm, to the Patscherkofel and in modest hairpin bends to the finish at the cross at the top. Break options along the way include the Alpengasthof Heiligwasser, the Patscher Alm, the Schutzhaus Patscherkofel, the Kofel, and the Patscherkofel Gipfelstube. You can easily get to the start and end of this tour from Innsbruck to Igls by tram line 6 or the "Peak to Peak" bus J.Tip: start the Tour in Innsbruck-Stadt to increase the challenge and make about 1,700 vertical meters.
