Our day started badly: we were due to set off at 6.30am, but instead, I woke up at 6.30am, swore and stumbled around, tried to eat something and managed to make it to the meeting spot for 7am.
The route, planned by Andrew, was perfect. Farnham for a bacon sandwich, Winchester for lunch, and lots of rolling lanes through Hampshire.
We got to Swanage in the evening in time for fish and chips on the front, looking out to sea which was the perfect end to the day. We then bought a few beers and headed up to Durlston in time for sundown and to find a spot to sleep.
It was a misty evening, but it really cleared up just in time for bed so we got to lie down looking up at a beautiful night sky. Gloves and hat on all night as it was nippy.
I originally planned to go alone, so having Sam and Andrew (and Rob as a special guest for the New Forest leg) made it the perfect way to celebrate the first of May, and a very special start to #12HoursofMay.
