How often have we gone on our hikes through the town of Elmstein - and yet we don't know it exactly. We wanted to change that today! It starts again at the Kuckucksbähnel train station - always following the "Kuckucksbähnelweg".First of all, we take a look at some historical buildings (formerly the Elmstein-Süd forestry office, Alte Samenklenge, Prot. Church and the small, old Catholic parish church "Maria Heimsuchung"). Then it's back a little - and up to the castle ruins of Elmstein on the steep castle path - with wonderful views of Elmstein and its landmarks. We are not allowed to go to the castle ruins (private property), so we only enjoy the beautiful views and continue walking - mostly on beautiful paths (sometimes really narrow and steep, right on the precipice above the road) - to the "Alte Schmelz" car park (start "Trifterlebnispfad") Legelbach "). There it is time to take a break in the sun at the picnic area there. It then continues - especially beautiful - past the mouth of the Legelbach and with the splashing of the Speyerbach to the junction to the Ehrenfels monument (on the Ehrenfelsen rock plateau). But today we don't look over there, but leave the "Kuckucksbähnelweg" here and continue on the "15" in the direction of Elmstein. The paths are still very beautiful - even a large, modern pedestrian bridge suddenly appears in front of us - to cross the Möllbach - and shortly afterwards we discover a memorial stone "Möllbachsteige" from 1930. With beautiful views we continue above the Speyerbach to the beautiful one Möllbachweiher. The beautiful rest areas next to the playground are unfortunately occupied, but we still take the great view of the Elmstein castle ruins enthroned above with us. And shortly afterwards we come to the historical heraldic forge, which we can unfortunately only see from the outside. Then it goes very nicely on paved paths along the Speyerbach, so that we don't even have to hike along the main road: it ripples wonderfully - and we enjoy the view up to the Möllberg pavilion on the Rehfelsen. We are then at the Heinrich Weintz primary school with a view of the very large, newly built Kath. Church - and soon again at the Kuckucksbähnel train station - many interesting impressions of Elmstein and its history! Nice!
