This route starts at a special location, at the top of the Cauberg! At Landal Kasteeldomein De Cauberg, that is to say, the park that breathes cycling and where the classy professionals from the professional peloton like to stay. But this time we skip the altimeters of the Cauberg. They are already driven enough. We set course for the South Limburg border area, where undiscovered slopes await you! The route starts slowly. Plenty of time to warm up the legs. Across the border in the Belgian Voer region, the first two obstacles await the program. The Kloosterhofweg and Mabrouck are real "runners". Climbs with a constant gradient on low-traffic roads. Perfect for warming up!After the first efforts have been made, the route takes you through a delightful descent to the historic Abbey of Val-Dieu. The specialty beer of the same name is still brewed here. The abbey is a nice place to replenish your energy reserves, although it is better to leave such a delicious chalice of abbey beer standing for a while. But rest assured, there will still be plenty of places on the route to get that beer.Back on the bike, the calves are quickly warmed up. And on the Mur de Grises Pierres, a great unknown that you will not soon forget after this ride. The gradients of this “wall” come in like a wrecking ball. Downshifting early is recommended! But the efforts on this slope are not for nothing. Once at the top, you are in an area with low-traffic, almost un-Belgian good roads. And while you enjoy the surroundings, the altimeter continues to run steadily. At fifty kilometers you will find the biggest challenge of the day in Les Waides. This climb is one of the toughest in this region. With a length of 2.5 kilometers and gradients well in the double figures, this is a formidable opponent. One tip: don't give up if the solitary oak is in sight. You are almost there! At the top you will be rewarded because Les Waides gives you one of the most beautiful views of the region. Take a photo and share it with #LimburgCycling and let us enjoy that beautiful view too! After this it is nice to roll out towards South Limburg. The route crosses the old village center of Eijsden, where it is not a bad idea to join a local terrace. With fifteen kilometers on the counter, a small piece of South Limburg hills awaits you. After two climbs, nothing stands between you and the finish line on top of the Cauberg. Turn it on one more time and your hands up on arrival at the top!
