This course starts at the Tom Dumoulin Bike Park in Sittard. You cycle in an easterly direction and soon cross the Sittard city border in search of hills! You will find it between places such as Windraak, Puth and Munstergeleen. It is bursting with short explosive climbs here. While conquering the Wanenberg, your heart rate is mainly increased. What follows next are views over fields, quaint hamlets and short, fun roe-biters. You cycle along the most beautiful spots in the region. It is never flat. The tight asphalt of the Nagelbeekklim and the lesser-known climb of the Nelisweg deserve a special mention. These obstacles warm you up for real work.Because the devil is in the tail. There are two climbs that make all the other slopes in this course look pale. The first on the menu is the Schieversberg. A real wrecker, which lets the steam pop out of your ears over a distance of nine hundred meters. The feat of this stage is the Sweikhuizerberg. The profile of the climb is erratic, just like the road surface. Asphalt alternates with cobblestones and bricks. You won't find a hundred meters of steady gradients here, so throw the flexibility overboard. This climb is brute force. If you still have breath after this violence, you can still loose in the Tom Dumoulin Bike Park upon arrival in Sittard. Check the opening hours at the entrance or website.

With great pleasure I drove this route on 15/8/21. I have linked this route to another route in this collection, namely "Vaals, Schinveld, Vaals" and made it a nice daytime activity. I did adjust the start/finish and moved it to a more logical start/finish in the northern part of these routes. As indicated, there are some parts of lesser quality ground (sometimes even bad), but on the other hand, you come on very nice back roads. Fantastic! Thanks for sharing!
