No, there is nothing wrong with your orientation if you are heading north from Valkenburg. The route really goes that way. And don't think you will only find flat roads here. Because this route involves climbing, but not in the hills of South Limburg!Hopefully you have done a warm-up, because immediately from the start in Valkenburg the Kleverberg presents itself and you already note the first altimeter. A good start to the day and the most beautiful climbs are yet to come! The climbs in this route are not accidentally combined. Because all have a winding character, with the all-telling Slingerberg in Geulle as a foretaste. After this climb, it is time to relax. A feast for the eyes and peace for the legs, when you cross the Belgian border to visit the beautiful and flat Maasland.Once you have passed the Flemish forests and water features, the supreme moment of this trail awaits you. The Zusserdel, also known as Tienderberg, or in the Belgian vernacular “Slingerbergske”, is one of the best kept secrets of the region. The winding slope is one to get carsick, but a delight for the cycling enthusiast. Just give it a good crank. One day we see the first emerge! At the top, you blast through the language barrier and find yourself on Walloon territory. And with the French names, the climbs get even more cachet. The Rue du Garage is the next challenge: this climb is made for the big knife (aka the big blade) and has a descent to enjoy. If you want to take a picture of your ride, get off here, because the iconic hairpin bend full of cobblestones is extremely photogenic. With seventy kilometers on the counter, the red rag comes into view. But before that happens, there is one more climbing. The Keutenberg is the last hurdle before the line in Valkenburg. Is there still some gravy in the legs? Then now is the time to go!
