This tour in the “Magnificient 7” trail area increases continuously in difficulty up to the grandiose finale - the legendary Portal Trail. One of the many local shuttle companies will take you to the trail entrance. Take at least four liters of water and enough food with you. Despite the small number of kilometers, you will easily be on the road for four to six hours. With Getaway and Great Escape you start this unique trail adventure with a lot of flow. After about 19 kilometers you will reach the “Turn around” sign. This is where the hard part of the tour begins. Only continue when you have enough grains left. If not, you can taxi back to Moab via Gemini Bridges Road to Highway 191.Gold Bar Rim leads you over a steep rock climb directly to the edge of the canyon. Once at the top you let the fantastic view work on you. The little black street below you is Highway 191. Visually, it looks like it's not far to Moab. But be careful, the most technically difficult parts are still ahead of you. From now on, the trail always goes directly along the edge of the canyon. The brilliant finale follows - the legendary Portal Trail. If you no longer feel fit at this point, you can get off via the sandy Poison Spider Road. Once again, full concentration is required on the portal. There are some extremely exposed sections. Several signs indicate that individual drivers had to pay for their driving attempts here with their lives. So it definitely makes sense to get off and push a few meters. The Portal Trail only loses a lot of height at the end. On the last section it is really slippery because of the loose rock. A few more tight hairpin bends and you leave the trail with a big grin.
