Gastein – Aufladen. Aufleben. Abheben. planned a hike.

If you mainly walked uphill in the previous stages, today you walk down most of the day. The fourth stage of the Gastein Trail starts where you ended yesterday and hopefully had a wonderfully relaxing night: the Hofgasteiner Haus. The surroundings are again beautiful from the first few steps. An old connecting path leads you in the direction of the Rockfeldalm. "Trittsicherheid" - as the Austrians say - is important on the Hermann-Kreilinger-Steig. A fear of heights is also not handy here. Stop every now and then to look around. You can see the alpine meadows on the other side, where you can taste homemade bacon, butter and cheese in the meadows. You can recognize the farm life here at great heights, if only by the countless hay barns along the route and the smell of freshly mown grass. On to the Gadauner Hochalm with the various authentic mountain huts that blend perfectly with the blooming environment. The Felding Hütte is one of them. From here you have an impressive view of the Türchlwand and the Sieben Spitz. The descent towards Angertal goes through dense spruce forests, which offer a welcome relief on hot summer days and which treat you to a mixture of scents of trees, mushrooms and moss.Once down you can clearly see the tourist side of the Sack valley, for example through the futuristic valley station of the Kaserebenbahn. You have suddenly ended up in the middle of a ski hotspot, where countless skiers conquer the mountains in winter. This was once a bustling place for a completely different reason: in the past, mining was extensive here and mineral resources were extracted from the ground.
