Gastein – Aufladen. Aufleben. Abheben. planned a hike.
April 25, 2021
The second stage of the Gastein Trail starts after a wonderful night on the Heinreich Alm. Here, high between the mountain tops, there is a wonderful silence. Get ready for a hike through scenic landscapes and rustic mountain wilderness. You start today's walk with a climb to the charming Heinreich Chapel and past the rustic Kokaseralm. Your daily worries fade into the background with every step you take. This rest in body and limb can only be found in the mountains. You walk across alpine meadows and see and hear the herds of cows that graze here, while you can already see the Präau Hochalm in the distance.During this stage you will cross many streams and rivers. Waterproof shoes are therefore a good idea, but so is an extra pair of dry socks. You exchange them on a "dry sock bench" that is in different places, especially for this purpose. You will pass various pastures, such as the Wölflalm, the Gröbneralm and the Walchalm. Note that you cannot go to all meadows for a snack or a drink. Even higher you suddenly see the valley again and for the first time you can also see the villages of Bad Hofgastein and Bad Gastein.Enjoy the view and the tranquility, and walk at your leisure to the final destination of this second stage: the Biberalm. A wonderful evening is guaranteed with an unparalleled view of the graceful Hohe Tauern in the south.
