The Saale Valley is one of the most beautiful river landscapes in Germany. Here the Saale meanders comfortably in wide arches through deep valleys. A few castles and small towns on its banks bear witness to the history of this region. The start and finish of this hike is Burgk Castle, which you can easily reach by car. Sufficient parking spaces are available here. From there you hike in an up and down over the narrow Röhrensteig to the south. This beautiful hiking trail runs along the steep slope of the Saale and is repeatedly secured with railings. Almost continuously you have a beautiful view of the Saale loops and the castle. Passing a picturesque orchard, you almost descend to the shore. Here a quiet forest path runs to the Kobersfelsen, which rises steeply into the sky right next to the Saale. A narrow footbridge leads you past the rock face. We recommend a short detour to the summit, because a breathtaking view over the water awaits you at the top. Here you can take a short break before you set off again. Along the bank you walk almost to the dam of the Bleilochtalsperre. After a short ascent, you stroll with a view over a picturesque meadow landscape to Gräfenwarth. You will soon reach Saalburg via the Wetterabrücke. The Bridge of Peace takes you to the other bank of Germany's largest reservoir and from here you follow the bank to the north again. From the narrow path you have a great view of the reservoir and again and again you pass quiet resting places that invite you to linger. Café Isabellengrün is located at the northern end of the lake. The homemade cakes and pies are the perfect refreshment for the last section of your hike. This leads you through the forest and over the rocky Jägersteig back to the banks of the Saale near Burgk. You cross the Burgkhammer dam and through the pretty Sophiengarten you reach the castle again.
