Daypacking im Erzgebirge: Talsperre Eibenstock
Hiking Highlight (Segment)
deuter planned a hike.
April 24, 2021
The Eibenstock dam is the largest dam in Saxony, so the circular hike around the dam is correspondingly long. This varied hike proves that such a round is anything but monotonous. So lace up your hiking boots, throw your backpack on your back and off you go! You start at the parking lot a little above the dam. You can already take a look at the dam from up here and set off with anticipation for the day ahead. You can reach the other side via the impressive dam. There it is first a short steep uphill section, after which you follow the bank of the dam more or less. Again and again you can look down at the water through gaps between the trees. After five kilometers you will reach a small meadow near the water. When the weather is nice, this place is ideal to take a first break, because the key to the success of a longer hike is regular breaks for the feet. Past the Fuchsbaufelsen, which owes its name to a burrow between the boulders, you will soon reach the dam of the pre-dam. Here you have a beautiful view of the water. Directly behind the dam we have planned a short detour to the headland to the climbing rock Tunnelnadel, because the imposing rocks are definitely worth a little detour. After a short ascent, you will soon reach a viewpoint over the dam. A bench with a table invites you to take a short break. In many bends and in a gentle up and down, the hiking trail continues parallel to the bank to Hundshübel. From the Viechzigblick viewpoint, you can not only look over the water, but also as far as Eibenstock and the Auersberg - a view that invites you to linger. A narrow path right on the water finally leads you back to your starting point, which you reach after a last short ascent.
