We wanted to drive towards Thurnau differently. Through the Rotmaintal the path led us first to Wickenreuth, then Oberzettlitz, Windischenhaig, Ameisloch, Hutschdorf, Rottlersreuth and Hörlinreuth to Thurnau.
In the Jarosch private forest we happened upon the Engelchen fountain, beautifully laid out with a memorial stone and an actual fountain and a small pond.
Then we drove through Thurnau past the Schloßsee and on the old railway line to Limmersdorf. Then through the Limmersdorfer Forst again towards Rotmaintal. We followed the railway line to Neuenreuth am Main and crossed the Red Main there. Immediately after the bridge we turned left onto a hiking trail that led us back towards the A 70.
Right next to the motorway there was an idyllic little lake with lots of water birds.
The way led us to Langenstadt, from where we drove back to Kulmbach on well-known paths and roads through the Rotmaintal.
A small rest area for pedestrians and cyclists has been built by the water management office in Hof on the flood basin directly under the Berlin bridge. There is also a notice board indicating that the Kulmbach flood has been exposed.
A relaxed tour with the highlight Engelchen Brunnen.
