Today again a castles 🏰 tour in the Altenburger Land / border area to Meerane. The start and finish was at the Meerane car park, Nelkenweg. The first goal was the Wunderlich Park in Meerane. A green gem in honor of the deserving citizen Wilhelm Wunderlich, with a memorial stone and memorial. The next stop on the tour was Ponitz Castle.Ponitz Castle was built around 1254 for the Lords of Ponitz. The castle was demolished in 1568-1575 and rebuilt as a Renaissance castle. After 1990 the castle was renovated. In 1568 the Abraham von Thumbsbirn family bought the castle for 30,000 Rhenish guilders from Heinrich von Ende. The later lord of the castle Wolfgang Conrad von Thumbsbirn (1604 - 1664) was one of the founders of the Peace of Westphalia. The castle is in excellent condition and there is delicious 🍨 in the castle café across the street. From here the rain set in, so equipment updated and on to the Hainichen manor. The manor house Hainichen was built in 1707 and in the 18./19. In the 19th century, farm buildings were added, but some of them were demolished after 1945. The AWO bought the mansion in 1994 for 500,000 DM, and it was renovated in 2009/2010. The mansion is currently used by the AWO as a nursing home. Then on a short path over a beautiful forest path to Crotenlaide, to the manor house. The manor house Crotenlaide was built before 1600 by Georg Caspar von Minkwitz. After Hauptmann von Gaudlitz (1696), the mansion came into the possession of Paul Eichler in 1910. The manor house belonged to the Eichler family until after 1950, and from 1990 to the Eichler community of heirs. The manor house was renovated after 1988. The Crotenlaide manor house is currently used by private individuals as apartments.Via another beautiful park, albeit in the rain, we returned to the Nelkenweg parking lot.A beautiful tour with beautiful paths, there was only road 😅👍 between Ponitz and Hainichen.Another nice castles tour.Glück auf 🤠⚒✌
Great tour. 👍We'll cut them off some time. There are some small, enchanted castles in this area. Unfortunately partly ruins or otherwise used. e.g. Ehrenberg Castle. 🏰
Don't reveal everything, Ehrenberg is already on my plan. I still have 3 - 4 castles 🏰tours planned before I continue in West Saxony ☺✌
Nice tour and as always with a lot of interesting information about the tour. ;-)))
Thank you very much, it was fun today despite the weather.
