This fifth stage crosses from Yorkshire into the county of Lancashire and will certainly feel more easy going than previous stages, with some of the most spectacular sections of the trail thrown in for good measure too.
Just like most other days, staying in towns on waterways means you’ll have a climb soon after breakfast. Rise up the valley on a gravel track out of Calderbrook to get started, heading north and alongside Walsden Edge. Drop down into the brilliantly named Lumbutts before taking the gorgeous London Road gravel track towards Hebden Bridge.
Take the steep Jumble Hole climb out of Hebden Bridge, zig-zagging up the valley side. Follow the singletrack and quiet lanes north to the top of Standing Stone Hill, and hopefully you’ll have a clear day here for some mega views!
Take the Lower Gorple Reservoir descent - fast, open and thrilling! Head west now on the trail, where you’ll find a gorgeous sector of trail, crossing down the side of one bank before heading up the other side, almost like a mountain bike trail.
Head to the north-east to reach Wycoller Country Park, riding along the pretty bridleway through here and descending over the River Laneshaw to the end of the stage. The large town of Colne is nearby, which offers many amenities and accommodation for an overnight stay.
