If you have some extra energy left in your legs, it is worth taking a detour to the Vercors from Cognin-les-Gorges. The Gorges du Nan is practically right on your doorstep and invites you to take a short tour along the spectacular road that accompanies it. You can come across the tour a little further southwest, continue on today's stage, or simply drive back to the campsite to spend a second night there - why the rush?If you follow the tour - with or without a detour - you will reach Saint-Nazaire-en-Royans on the banks of the Isère. I don't want to anticipate the wow factor when you roll into the place, but I'll say it anyway: Wow! The place is simply spectacular, overlooked by an aqueduct and overlooking the Vercors. You don't need more good reasons for an extended break. For more than 40 kilometers you follow the long-distance cycle path in the Isère valley towards the Rhône, pass the city conglomerate Romans-sur-Isère / Bourg-de-Péage and finally turn north of Bourg-lès-Valence back to the course of the river that accompanied you out of Switzerland a few days ago.You pass the big city of Valence quite inconspicuously on the riverbank, only in places accompanied by a main road. A short detour to the park, a look at the cliffs on the edge of the Massive Central and you change the bank. If the headwind that blows from time to time has not been a good companion for you up to this point, it is now at least held back a little by the steep rocky slopes. You will reach the campsite "Les deux Rives", your today's destination, a few kilometers south. It is certainly not a campsite that would be awarded five stars in the Michelin Guide. To be honest, he doesn't even have three. However, due to the rather seldom seen second campsite category, it is at least quite inexpensive and offers original French suburban camping flair. With a little luck, there will be a game of boules in front of the bar in the evening. Then the balls are swept off the street in a billiard-like manner and you can safely say of yourself: You too have now arrived in the heart of French leisure culture. Santé!
