A short and tight descent and you're close to the Rhine again. At Istein you go to its bank and follow it until the urban charm of the industrial cities in the border triangle awaits you at Weil am Rhein. You have to go through there now - between railroad tracks, highways and shipping containers. But the border with Switzerland can be reached quickly and with it the banks of the Rhine in Basel. It is a bit slower here again and numerous cafeterias invite you to stop for a break. Or maybe you jump for a quick refreshment and let yourself drift. But not too far! Because the river is flowing in the wrong direction.Again, it takes a little while until you have left the big city traffic of Basel behind you and slowly advance back into more rural areas near Liestal. The mountain of the day, the Obere Hauenstein, awaits you with them. At a mere 734 meters, the mountain is comparatively small for this corner and is sometimes one of the easiest ways to cross the Jura on the way to France. It will be exhausting anyway.Once at the top, a pretty stone sign invites you to take a photo break - far from a summit cross, but at least ... The subsequent descent is both rewarding and refreshing. Shortly before the valley, a wonderful view of the rugged Jura rocks is waiting to be enjoyed by you - embedded in the scenario: the ruins of Neu-Falkenstein Castle. The further route is soon based on the course of the Aare, which accompanies you to Solothurn, your current destination. Before going to camp for the night, it is worthwhile to settle down in the city by its sea wall, toast the arrival and watch the goings-on on the promenade. For a stop, I can either recommend the DOCK Bar with a beautiful view directly on the Aare, the pizzeria Il Ponte del Sole diagonally opposite or, if you're a little thirsty, the Öufi brewery.Tip: The TCS campsite is often a bit crowded - don't miss out on the reception and make a tired cyclist appointment with a view of the heavily packed bikes. That still worked wonders. Because there is usually a little space left on the tent meadow, only the computer at reception is rarely aware of such things. With a bit of luck, you can even get a real parking space for the same price - which is still pretty salty, but actually still quite acceptable for Switzerland.
