The first stage of the themed trail "Silver of the Sea" leads you from the port city of Altefähr almost steadily along the west coast of the island of Rügen to the north to the state-approved seaside resort Wiek.If you arrive by train, the starting point Hafen Altefähr can be reached from Altefähr train station in about 10 to 15 minutes by bike. But before you start pedaling from the harbor, you have one last opportunity to look at the Hanseatic city of Stralsund and thus the Western Pomerania mainland. It is one of the most beautiful sights that one can have of the Hanseatic city. If you want to strengthen yourself before this tour, you can also buy a fish sandwich here at the port - to match the tour. From the port you leave Altefähr in the north, always along the coast until the themed path leads you inland. At Gurvitz you can make a stop at the local estate. This manor is in a very idyllic location in the middle of nowhere. You continue on quiet roads through the Breesen district to Rambin. Here, in the east of the village, a little hidden behind bushes and trees is a small monastery, which was first mentioned in a document in 1334.The journey continues via the Rambiner districts of Drammendorf and Rothenkirchen to Dußvitz again in a northerly direction. Meadows and fields accompany your way. Here you have great views of Lake Priedwosche Wedde. At Varbelvitz Dorf the themed cycle path runs in two directions. One to the left in the direction of Ummanz, where it ends at the bridge with an information sign. On the other hand, its further course leads to the right in the direction of Gingst.A detour is worthwhile, as you can stop here at the adventure farm with its own café and restaurant. There you can not only get to know different pets and farm animals up close, but you also have the unique opportunity to drive a tractor. The journey continues through the municipality of Gingst with its districts of Volsvitz, Gingst and Teschvitz, the "Silver of the Sea" leads you further north. Nature lovers will appreciate the Teschvitz district as a starting point for tours into nature, as this place is in the immediate vicinity of the Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft National Park.Further via Trent you drive to Schaprode with its small port, which is known for fishing and the ferry service to Hiddensee. With the Wittower ferry you can easily cross the narrow waterway that connects the Breetzer Bodden with the Wieker BoddenArrived on the Wittow peninsula, you drive the last few kilometers along Wieker Bodden until you finally arrive at your destination Wiek.If you still have some time, you can have a look at the characteristic chalk loading bridge in the harbor or you can go to one of the fish restaurants in the city and enjoy a plate of "Silver of the Sea" - according to the theme cycle path.If you want to go back to the starting point, the RADfatz bus will bring you and your bike safely to the nearest Sassnitz train station.
