Carola and 2 others went for a bike ride.

I wanted to do another orbit in a duo and I persuaded Ole to do the lap with me. We opted for the Hase Pino, which is more of a touring bike and not suitable for long distances, but it makes us a better team than with two individual bikes. And of course because it's Easter and the other bikes aren't rabbits! It should go to Bitter in the north of the Elbe, then take the ferry to Hitzacker and back south of the Elbe and take the ferry from Hoopte to Zollenspieker. We start at 7 in rain and gray. It actually only drizzles for the first 1-2 hours, but the rain gear stays on all day because it is also quite cold, especially in the front on the stoker bed. On the way there it rolls very well, which is not surprising given the tail wind. As soon as we turn a little bit into the wind, it becomes apparent how strong it really is (according to the weather report up to 75 km / h) and the fear of the way back increases. At individual villages along the Elbe the saying comes: Oh, there is also a ferry here, we could go home here too! But we keep rolling down the Elbe dike and only stop once to change positions until the ferry. It looks pretty lonely at the ferry terminal, but the ferryman comes after a phone call. We are the first guests that day. It's on the way back, we are looking forward to the Kniepenberge, despite the up to 13% incline, because the wind does not yet play such a major role. After that it gets flatter and the wind gets stronger, in the headwind we fight our way forward at 10-12 km / h, the step tandem is just not very aerodynamic. On the other hand, in cross winds it has the advantage of remaining relatively stable because of its mass. 60 km before the finish we take another break in a sheltered corner and eat sandwiches. We know that it will be really exhausting and that it will take another 4 hours, but we decide to enjoy it, no matter how slow it goes. But the weather is much better than announced, the sun is really warm in the black rain gear. It goes on and as soon as we turn the bend, we see a fat black cloud. The bad weather was probably right after all. In the north, people like to boast that the precipitation here comes horizontally to the ground, but I've never seen anything like this sleet swept across the fields. After a few minutes everything is over again, the sun comes out and the birds chirp. Only the headwind is still there. The last 30 km we are again directly on the Elbe dike, the river is dark gray and has waves with whitecaps. When we see the next black cloud coming towards us, we actually think that there was already enough weather, but it caught us anyway. From Ole comes the exclamation: But that it always has to be so epic! The initial hail turns into snow and a short time later it is sunshine again. At least there are good photos with snow and blue skies. Due to various niggles, increasing bocklessness and the bad weather, we are worried that the Zollenspieker ferry will not run, but there is no announcement online. We take it all in and the relief is great when we actually see them driving - back again and in Geesthacht over the bridge would certainly have spoiled the mood.So after 180 km we arrive home in a good mood and proud, it was a great day for two.
My greatest respect.I was thrown back and forth in the south today.LG you
