The Torhelm is the third highest mountain in the Kitzbühel Alps and offers a wonderful panoramic view of the Hohe Tauern. The ascent to the summit is quite challenging, but takes place on well-developed and marked mountain trails. The moderately difficult tour leads through the secluded Langer Grund valley and is perfect for ambitious hikers. The only managed alpine hut is at the starting point of the hike, so you should definitely pack enough water and food. The starting point of the hike is at the end of a toll road in Kelchsau. At the hiking car park next to the Tiefentalalm begins your hike. You follow the wide hiking trail into the Langen Grund. On the shores of the Langer Grund Ache, you slowly ascend and pass several small huts and uncultivated pastures. At first, the slopes are still covered with sparse forests, but soon you are hiking across wide mountain meadows. The path winds up further and gets steeper and steeper. At the summit of the Torhelms you will be rewarded for all your efforts, because the view is simply breathtaking. After a rest at the summit cross, it's the same way back to the starting point of the tour.
