A good mountain hike also includes a visit to an alpine hut. After a demanding ascent, there is nothing better than a Brettljause, a portion of Kaiserschmarrn or a cold beer. On this tour are three first-class alpine huts on the program. The best thing about all three of them is still the handmade Gailtaler cheese made by hand. It is prepared exclusively on 13 mountain huts and only in summer. The leisurely hike takes you from the cable car station of the Millennium Express in a large loop down to the middle station at the Tressdorfer Alm.You start your hike at the mountain station Madritsche. From there you hike along the Aqua Trail to the Speichersee. The trail leads leisurely downhill and you can enjoy in peace and quiet the beautiful mountain panorama. The first alp on the roadside is the Rudnig Alm. The rustic Alm is surrounded by lush mountain meadows and offers homemade dairy products for sale. You follow the hiking trail across meadows and through sparse woodland. The Tröpolacher Alm, the second alpine pasture on the circular trail, stands next to an artificial lake. If you register in advance, you can also visit the cheese dairy and the stable. After a long break we continue to the third alpine pasture where you will not only find first-class cheese, but above all the cheese dairy. In summer, you can watch the dairymaid making cheese every day. After your shopping in the farm shop your backpack is filled to the top with the golden yellow cheese. Afterwards, you can comfortably take the cable car to the valley.
