Etappe 1: Von Coppenbrügge nach Wallensen – Ith-Hils-Weg
Renée planned a hike.
March 29, 2021
It's finally starting. The official starting point of the Ith-Hils-Weg is in front of the Felsenkeller in Coppenbrügge. After just a few meters, the first ascent is waiting for you. Soon the dense beech forest swallowed you and when you reach the rock couple Adam and Eve, you have the first 200 meters over two kilometers behind you - time for a short break and a few photos at the striking rock formation. From now on you follow the Ith-Kammweg without major differences in altitude, which leads you on narrow paths past viewpoints and bizarre cliffs. After just four kilometers you will reach the Ith tower and thus the highest point of your hike. Take a little time and climb the freely accessible stone tower. The view from up there is really breathtaking. The ridge path stretches to the south in an up and down direction. In doing so, you repeatedly master short, steep ascents and descents. You will be rewarded with natural paths and views of the hilly surrounding area. After 13 kilometers you leave the Ith-Hils-Weg and descend to the east towards Wallensen. Past the water tree - a curious natural monument whose origin cannot be recognized at first glance - it goes over the fields to Wallensen and finally to the Waldhotel Humboldt. Alternatively, you can also spend the night at the campsite at Humboldtsee or follow the Ith-Hils-Weg for eight kilometers and stop off at one of the campsites in Capellenhagen or Holzen-Ith.
