For some time now, Weidenthal has become an "insider tip" for Sunday hikes, as there aren't as many people here as there are on the Haardt and the Weinstrasse.
Today we want to explore the wonderful rest area at the "Esthaler Bänken" via the route through the Weißenbachtal, i. H. on the new "Hüttensteig" rating trail.
We start at the parking lot with the glass containers opposite the old train station. (Bahnhofstrasse and Weißenbachstrasse meet here).
The first section runs along Weißenbachstraße down to Weißenbach, then we come to the "Hüttensteig" which first runs along stony paths along the Weißenbachtal - but with very interesting insights into beautiful, beautiful and not so beautiful gardens behind the houses there. Very interesting!
Almost at the end of the Weißenbachtal (nice rest bench) the "Hüttensteig" then becomes a very nice hiking path that leads continuously uphill to the "Esthaler Bänken" (altogether about 150 meters altitude).
In addition to the small "Heidenkopfhütte", which is always lovingly decorated for the seasons, there are so many beautiful benches here for a leisurely rest!
It goes down on a somewhat longer path and continuously on very beautiful paths (short section "white point", then only "green cross" or "Friends of Nature" hiking sign) down to the Weißenbachtal. Then only the short distance along Weißenbachstraße is missing to the old train station or our parking lot.
It was nice here in Weidenthal!
