This circuit between Reken and Haltern am See is characterized by unique landscapes and beautiful lakes. A special highlight is the herd of around 400 wild horses in the Merfelder Bruch. You start at the free parking lot at Bleeseke-Plass in Reken. If you arrive by train, then you can easily start in Maria Veen. You cycle through meadows and fields through the Heubachwiesen protected area and to the Merfelder Bruch. In the summer months, it is worth taking a detour at the weekend to see the horses that have been released into the wild and are on their own all year round.A few flat kilometers further you can look forward to the next animal highlight: In the Dülmen Nature Park you will encounter fallow deer between forests, meadows and ponds. Then it goes through the picturesque city center of Dülmen. After visiting the center, you change your course to the south and drive to the silver lakes. The shores of the quarry ponds invite you to take a break to cool off before you reach Sythen. There you can visit Sythen Castle and then the route takes you to the popular Haltern Reservoir. There is a stop at the Hohe Niemen bay or you can borrow a boat for a jaunt. You cycle directly along the lakeshore to Haltern am See. Outside the city, which is well worth seeing, a hilly passage in the Hohe Mark forest area awaits you - with a little electrical support, you can master the climbs in a relaxed manner. At the Hasenberg in the White Fens you will reach the highest point of your tour. From there it goes back to Reken on dirt roads and side roads.
