The defining element of this round tour is the element of water: Between Olfen and Haltern, you usually cycle through the wonderful nature of the Münsterland with a view of rivers and lakes. The starting point is in Olfen - alternatively, you can also start very easily in Haltern, where you have a connection to the train network. From Olfen you initially go to the Lippeaue nature reserve. On very well-developed bike paths, it goes along the sandy shore and through smaller forest areas.North of Datteln you then turn onto the Wesel-Datteln Canal, which you follow to Ahsen and finally to Flaesheim. You cycle there flat and are sometimes accompanied by ships or kayakers. At Flaesheim you leave the canal, cross the shimmering lip and then reach the Westruper Heide. The fascinating heather landscape is beautiful in every season, but in late summer you can marvel at a sea of colorful flowers. In an arc you circle the magnificent Haltern reservoir, on which small sailing boats frolic. The lake is also ideal for a short swim. You continue to the quiet, natural Hullerner Reservoir before you reach the banks of the Stever. The species-rich reservoirs are under nature protection and you can enjoy great views from the observation tower along the way. After a good 40 varied kilometers you are back in Olfen, which you can explore at the end of your lap.
