Von Esthal auf dem Prädikatsweg "Brunnenweg" (östlicher Teil)
Hiking Highlight (Segment)
Euphemia Anna 🌳🌲 and Rehlein went for a hike.

Today we walked the eastern part (with 4 fountains) of the new "Brunnenweg" - but in the opposite direction to the route taken by the tourism association, i. H. clockwise. That was a good thing, because the initial stretch to the entrance to the village ran on the paved sidewalks.Rarely have we got to know so many large and historical fountains during a hike. Particularly astonishing: they were all beautifully renovated / preserved, with new rest benches and great sandstone boulders as namesake. (One of these fountains has even been built from scratch. But more on that later.) As the sunny weather allowed it, we didn’t miss the opportunity to take a break at each of these beautiful resting places…!So we walk down the streets from the village square to the entrance to the village. The beautiful forest paths / paths only begin near the place-name sign - down to the Tränkenbrunnen, past the sports field, up the stairs to the district road that we have to cross, then on to the beautiful, small Wögelbrunnen. This is followed by beautiful paths, partly through a kind of "fairytale forest" (or was it just the beautiful light?) To the Hengstental fountain. It was built brand new at this point in 2020, lovingly designed with a small rest area and a small pond that is fed from the (even flowing!) Fountain. Then it goes up on a wide forest path - until we come back to the county road and the beginning of the Hengstental. We cross this road again, walk on wide forest paths - and then suddenly a totally steep forest path goes directly to the left from the Aschberg - up to the last houses of Esthal and directly to the horse pastures next to the Esthal monastery. Fortunately, a nice bench under a shady tree calls for lunch here.Well strengthened, we circle the monastery of St. Maria halfway on the left, so that we can see the monastery church from behind. Unfortunately, the only way to continue here is on very stony paths to the Esthaler Waldfesthalle and the edge of the forest. The beautiful "Rosary Path" with two benches (one with the "Rosary Queen") begins soon in the forest. It ends after 600 m and continues as an equally beautiful forest path that leads down very steeply at the end (seems to be a completely new path cut into the slope) - to the Straufelsbrunnen. You really have to sit by this large fountain - on a comfortable bench and next to numerous water troughs. From here it is only uphill - first through the forest and then as a long, fantastically beautiful meadow path (you feel like you are in the Allgäu!) Up to the first houses in Esthal. You can see the cemetery at the top right. In the village then just turn right, with a lot of luck you can even get delicious cakes in a bakery right on the village square - and then enjoy yourself at the car park opposite the "Esthaler Bürgerstübl"! There must be a reward, even if the beautiful "Brunnenweg" itself could be reward enough! - Oh yes, there is also anticipation - for the "western" part of the "Brunnenweg", which we have saved for another day.
