You can discover a lot on the ten kilometer long Kappelbergweg: an impressive ruin, wonderful views of the Erftal and an ample portion of forest air. The tour starts at the welfare mill near Hardheim.Right at the beginning the path leads you uphill, finally you have to climb the Kappelberg. You wander through the shady forest and further up. But since the slope is quite gentle, you can fully enjoy the wonderful nature. After a good two kilometers you will reach the ruins of the hermit chapel, also known as the Kappel. The former church was built at the beginning of the 15th century; the last mass was held in 1557.A little more it goes up the mountain, then you have mastered the altitude for today. As a reward, you can enjoy a wonderful view from the Schächerstein, but people are happy to take the small detour. How about a little snack break on the rocks? Now it goes downhill and along the banks of the Erf back towards the starting point. The tributary of the Main ripples leisurely through the deeply incised and uninhabited valley - the perfect environment to really clear your head again. Finally, you can have a good time in the Wohlfahrtsmühle restaurant.
