The Anninger near Mödling is one of the most popular bike mountains in eastern Austria. Despite its height of only 675 meters, it offers a variety of touring options and now also several official single trails. So if you are looking for a change from the tours in the northern Vienna Woods, then just take the 20-minute ride on the S-Bahn to Mödling. Especially when the trails in the northern Vienna Woods are still damp, the short trip to the south is worthwhile, as the ground here usually dries much faster. From the train station in Mödling you start along the Mödlingbach and you will soon reach the Gasthaus Bockerl. The ascent through a beautiful pine forest to the Anninger begins here. At the Anninger Schutzhaus you can take a short break and put on your schooner, because now the Kiental Trail is a real challenge. The trail is demanding from the start and requires good braking and cornering technique. After the first section, the trail divides into an easier, left and harder, right variant.Once at the bottom it goes uphill again on a forest road and you come to the intersection with Anningerstraße. Now you follow the signs in the direction of the hussar temple on the Kleiner Anninger. From the temple you have a great view of the Vienna basin. The following trail is one of the most difficult official trails in the Vienna Woods and you should only ride it if you are familiar with S3 - some sections even go into the S4 area. But there are also easier bypasses. After this trail challenge, you now have some time to loosen up, because it's flat back to the intersection with Anningerstraße. You now drive this up a second time. At the Anninger Schutzhaus you turn into the old toboggan run. This trail is flowing and fast. At the end of the trail you only have a short break, because the newly built Anninger Trail is already waiting. This beautiful trail brings you back to the start of the climb. On the way to the train station, it is worth making a detour via the beautiful city center of Mödling with its cafes and bars. The perfect bike for this tour: Giant Stance E + or Liv Embolden E
