The Hainig is Lauterbach's local mountain and has a proud height of 417 meters. But it goes even higher, because in the middle of the mountain, between old oaks, stands the Hainigturm, which was rebuilt as a stone tower in 1907. From the Hainigturm you can enjoy a great view over the Lautertal and deep into the eastern Rhön and to Fulda. The door to the staircase is mostly open during the hiking season from April to October. It starts in Lauterbach, which you can easily reach by bus. After a little swerve in the village, you head straight for the Hainigturm. This is also the only significant increase on your tour. From then on you move on a plateau, which you later leave in the direction of Lauterbach. It continues in a diagonal straight to Eisenbach Castle, which is definitely worth a visit - the castle courtyard and the garden are freely accessible. After a visit, you will now hike across meadows and fields until you dive back into the forest. On the mule track you can enjoy great views and impressive nature. It gets even more original when your path meets the Lauter brook. Tired hikers' legs look forward to a little cooling off here. Your hike ends again with great views at the snail towers and a little later at the starting point.
